Zeros is a Mexican drug cartel featured in "Z Nation", first encountered in Season 2 episode 2 "White Light".

Background[]

Zeros is a Mexican drug cartel who are run by La Reina and her right-hand-man Escorpion. Prior to the Apocalypse, they were somewhat powerful and attracted the attention of the DEA. Escorpion killed many people, including Vasquez's family.

It is unknown if they are involved in other "criminal" activities, but the chances are there. They seem to be a ruthless group that cares nothing for the well-being of others. They can be generally heard speaking Spanish to one another.

Their outfits are designed with skeleton bones, such as spines and ribs on their jackets along with bandannas and other headgear blocking their faces. These masks have skulls on them, complete with teeth and eye sockets so they can see. It is unknown if their skeleton motif was used prior to the outbreak.

They are usually heavily armed.

Post Apocalypse[]

In the post-apocalyptic world, the Zeros have a immense influence and power, particularly in the former nations of Mexico and the United States.Their influence stretches from the town of Burrtown in the south to a Agro-Lab in Minneapolis, where their Z-Weed operation is based out of.It is mentioned that New Mexico, at least the Roswell area, is under their control. They occasionally send drones to track the Westward Bound Survivor Group and Alvin Murphy.

Despite running into the group before, they only developed an interest in Murphy after Citizen Z broadcasted a bounty on him. The Zeros planned to make their own vaccine using Murphy, in order to create a new world order under their authority. Unfortunately for them, this plan backfired after Murphy and Walter Kurian created a fake vaccine and administered it to most, if not the entire gang. In the resulting confusion, Escorpion was left to die, countless Zeros were killed or zombified, and the Westward-bound survivor group escaped the compound.

"White Light"[]

Escorpion has what seems to be an AT4 that he uses to shoot at 10K, temporarily deafening him. Interestingly an AT4 can only be fired a single time before it is discarded as it can not be reloaded but it is seen being fired several times in the show; a possible goof. The Zeros have lengthy resources, however, so it is possible that he simply had multiple weapons.
