Portsmouth Naval Prison is located in Kittery, Maine, on the grounds of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Background[]
The Prison was in use from 1908 to 1974.
At some point prior to the outbreak, the prison was reopened.
Murphy was incarcerated there prior to the outbreak.
Prison Features[]
The Prison contained criminals and functioned like a regular prison before the apocalypse began. At some point, some of the prisoners or other people put up a sign on the roof that said “HELP”.
Post Apocalypse[]
At some point, an infection control laboratory was added.
"Puppies and Kittens"[]
On May 5th, 2AZ, Dr. Marilyn Merch used the infection control laboratory to perform unethical medical experiments on inmates using an Executive Order signed by President Lindsay Barton. Several inmates, including Murhpy, were forcibly "volunteered" to be injected with experimental vaccines.
The facility was overrun by zombies, with Mark Hammond and Murphy being among the few survivors to escape certain death or infection.
Though Murphy escaped, it was not before being bitten 8 times by infected zombies - apparently immune due to the version of the vaccine he was injected with. The exact origin of his immunity has yet to be 100% confirmed, as he may exhibit some level of an extremely rare and previously unknown natural immunity.
