The Jersey Devil Refinery, affectionately nicknamed "zombie factory," is an oil refinery in New Jersey, near Paramus.
Background[]
Prior to the outbreak, the refinery manufactured oil and gasoline. It was presumably overrun very quickly at the onset of the apocalypse leaving the gas and other supplies untouched according to Travis.
Post Apocalypse[]
"Fracking Zombies"[]
Travis offers its location to the Westward-Bound Survivor Group at Paramus Park Mall in exchange for allowing him to join them.
Once the group gets there they see that the sound of the still-running refinery is attracting the zombies and a large number of them are at the refinery.
Initially, the group devises a plan to deactivate whatever device is making the noise and distract the numerous zombies located at the site in order to secure a gasoline tanker truck and fill it with more than enough fuel to complete their journey to Mount Wilson Station in California. Doc and Murphy stay back at safe distance in case things go awry. Addy and Mack climb the refinery tower and deactivate the pump machine by lodging a shovel into it, they also discover that many of the zombies fell down into the oil shaft below. Cassandra uses her music box to lure the zombies away while Warren and Garnett start up an oil truck to fill up a whole tank to California. However the shovel breaks hitting and injuring Mack and the pump starts back up alerting the zombies. However Addy uses her Z Whacker to stop the machine again and they begin to fill up the tanker. Cassandra is attacked by Travis and the Refinery’s pipes begin to burst from the number of zombies lodged inside. Murphy crashes his car after panicking and sparks fly dangerously.
However, due to Murphy's panicking, the tanker truck is destroyed and the refinery is set ablaze. Garnett punches Murphy and pulls him out of the car shortly before the whole tanker and refinery explodes.
Travis attempts to kidnap Cassandra at the refinery with a tazer, but she gains the upper hand and kicks him off the structure to be eaten by zombies. She throws her music box down at him as he’s getting devoured.
Later Citizen Z sees the explosion on a satellite and contacts Garnett through a payphone nearby. Citizen Z still tells him to take Murphy to California even though they have no contact. 10k was able to find a few gas canisters before the refinery blew up and this will provide the vehicle with some gas for a decent while.
Then as a zombie himself, Travis is later given mercy by Tobias. He finds Cassandra’s soundbox and knows that she caused his death.
