Pre-Apocalypse
Cooper was a trained medic. He owned a farm together with is wife Sarah, and was living there with his wife and child, Claudette.
Post_apocalypse
As Claudette becomes sick Cooper goes out looking for medicine. Whilst gone his wife takes their daughter to the car and park it in the barn with the engine on, killing them both. Cooper finds them dead but is unable to give them mercy.
A year later he is out on the ridge and finds Roberta Warren injured. He takes her home and treats her wounds. As she comes to after acouple pf weeks she begins to help him on the farm. Growing closer together they begin a romantic relationship. Until Roberta one day finds Sarah and Claudette in the barn. She convinces Cooper to give them mercy.
