The Bandit Road was a highway near Amish Country, Pennsylvania on the way to Washington, D.C. that gave the Westward-bound survivor group no end of trouble.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
The road was a normal highway servicing many cars and trucks. Homes and farms lined the road as it seemed to be in rural Pennsylvania.
Post Apocalypse[]
As the heroes headed to California, they traversed a highway where they were robbed of their truck not once, but twice. Two different groups of bandits operated on the road, alternating robbing the heroes and killing each other or being killed by zombies.
They were first robbed by a group disguised as Zombies and hiding within many chained zombies. They operated in rust colored Volkswagen Beetle and stole the groups truck. Murphy insisted that they give them the truck but Warren disagreed. In the end they let the bandits have the truck while they leave the junk car behind.
The second time they get robbed is when they see the first bandit group supposedly “robbing” a poor family but The West-bound survivors defend the family and get out of the car to attack the first group of bandits. However, they look off and after the first group lowers their weapons the whole family opens fire killing all of the first bandit group. They order the members of Warren’s group to lower their weapons and the family quickly climbs in the truck and speeds away.
They later find the family dead being eaten alive by zombies that seemed to have overrun them. Garnett states that “ we got to get off this road”.
The group later stops at a fast food restaurant and use the drive-thru to contact Citizen Z.
The extent of trouble lead the heroes to seek another route, which lead them to McCandles' Tower.
